I'm a badass social scientist in central Texas.

My current research is based on the concept of benefits of marriage for those in non-hetersexual marriages. There is a great deal of research on the benefits of marriage for heterosexual couples but there is a lack of similar data for those in same- sex marriages. The existing literature tells us that for those in heterosexual marriages, women benefit slightly less than men but that both enjoy higher levels of self reported happiness, longer lives, financial stability, and are healthier than those that don’t marry. The purpose of my research is to identify patterns of behavior in same-sex married and non-married couples that would lead to the same benefits. I am specifically looking to see how domestic life pairs up with stories of relationships from both partners.

Previous research included a worldwide survey that I created and disseminated in the fall of 2014. The resulting data  are creating insights to a previously invisible population that may lead to large policy implication. This research will be presented at the Southern Demographers Association conference in the fall of 2015.

In addition to my research based on demography and statistical analysis, I am working on co-authored research with Dr. Dudley Poston on the prevalence of asexuality as well as research on regional impact on salary of LGB Americans.

Additional research and conference presentations can be found in my CV and Resume through the links below.

If you would like to participate in my same-sex marriage study, please email me for more information and to arrange an interview.
